BrisBANe
Just a short stop on my way to the Whitsunday Islands (part of the great barrier reef). I booked a flight which turned out to be cheaper than the bus ticket...and which is of course much more convenient :)

Brisbane is a very charming city. Tonight I am going to stay in a living community of a guy from Fiji. There are lots of nice cafes and restaurants in brisbane but they keep playing cheesy christmas carols

ArRRgh

It's just too hot for any serious christmas feeling.

Bushfires are raging in the south and the whole country suffers from the severest draught in the last century.

Environment is a pretty big issue over here - it really affects ppl.

LenNox HEaD
Definitely a very cute town with a beautiful beach and a tee tree lake. That lake is quite amazing. The tee trees around the lake extract tee tree oil which dissolves in the water. This turns the water of the lake dark red and makes the skin really smooth. Pretty cool...

But the best about lennox is its hostel. As former motel it is much more comfortable than normal hostels. Also, only about 20 people stay there at a time. Everybody knows each other and we had a really good time with two finnish guys, a swiss-german girl, two swedish girls (who sang saint lucia songs for us on the 13th), a japanese surfer, and a couple others.

Marco, one of the finnish, was in chile during his studies. He built a trail for tourists in the andes which I really want to visit.

HOELEGEN GOELEGEN! (cheers in finnish)

BYroN bAy II
It took me about 24 hours to discover Byron's primitive party life. Actually, once I went to the clubs (I checked all of them) I felt that Byron is for Australia what Ibiza is for Europe... Except for the fact that Byron is trying to keep up the illusion of of being a hippie town.

One day I did a wildlife tour which was really amazing. We spotted two different kinds of pademelons, three kinds of flying foxes, a snake, kangaroos, koalas, wallabies, lots of different parrots, dolphins - all of them in their natural habitat.

That's where I met ppl that stayed in lennox head which is a village 25km south of Byron. They had an easy time to convince me to come to stay at their hostel.
